Utility (energy & water) cost reduction

Reducing consumption to make savings is excellent (see Carbon reduction), but often surprisingly large savings and rebates on our existing energy and water bills. 

Freedom to select energy suppliers has led to huge differences in tariff rates - typically the “default” rate which you may be charged can be twice that of properly managed accounts.  Even if you are on the “best” tariff you may not be claiming all the rebates or reduced VAT and climate change levy or losses allowances.  This can add up to an additional fifth to your bills.

Even where you have changed to better suppliers or rectified billing estimates it is not uncommon to find credits or overcharges locked into the system just waiting to be claimed.

Recharging others who may be using your buildings and proper budget allocation and apportionment can also make a big difference to ones budget.

Managing utility bills, with the complexes of the current supply industry is no easy task.  It needs constant diligence as well as regular reviews and critical analysis and extensive knowledge of the industry and contract options and rebate options.
