Carbon footprints

One of the main environment drivers today is carbon emission, or the effect it has on our “Carbon Footprint” - namely the impact one's operation has on the world’s total global warming gasses.  It is one of the key measurements of the success of our environmental management.

Unfortunately, many organisations lack quantification of their footprint and where it exists there are large variations in the scope of what is taken into account.  Once a footprint is established it may be re-evaluated on an annual basis to update your performance and provide a meaningful comparison of your year on year progress.

Typically, the carbon footprint will include your heating fuels, electricity, water, fugitive emissions (e.g. refrigerant losses), transport fuels, waste and procurement (including consumables, equipment, food, materials, pharmaceuticals, etc.).   As options - perhaps presented separately, your building embedded emissions in your plant, buildings and so forth can be considered.
